The fire fighters' cabinet in the illustration was designed and produced by Nick to store keys and building plans. Its purpose is to assist fire fighters gain entrance to and identify routes through company buildings.

On a similar safety theme, Nick developed toxic paint standard reference panels for L.G.C. (Laboratory of the Government Chemist) These panels are used world wide to enable laboratories to test and verify the coatings on children's toys for toxicity. They were produced to satisfy European Union Directive 88/378/EEC and European Standard EN71: Part 3
